Your Facelift journey

Facelift Consultation
Step 1
Consultation

Your journey begins with a doctor-led surgical consultation. We assess facial ageing patterns, skin quality, soft tissue descent, and overall suitability. We discuss goals, expected outcomes, limitations, alternatives, scarring, and material risks so you can make an informed decision in line with UK consent standards.

Facelift Planning
Step 2
Planning

Your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate technique based on your anatomy and concerns (e.g., lower face and neck focus, mid-face emphasis, or combined approach). We discuss incision placement, recovery milestones, return-to-work planning, and aftercare requirements.

Facelift Procedure
Step 3
Procedure

Facelift surgery is performed by an experienced doctor in a clinical environment. The goal is to restore definition by repositioning deeper tissues and refining excess skin, aiming for a natural result rather than a “pulled” appearance. You will receive structured aftercare instructions for swelling, bruising, wound care, and activity restrictions.

Facelift Recovery & review
Step 4
Recovery & review

Swelling and bruising are expected and gradually settle over time. We provide guidance on scar care, sun protection, and when it is safe to return to exercise and normal routine. A review is arranged where clinically appropriate to monitor healing and progress.

How does a facelift work?
How does a facelift work?
Natural-looking facial definition

A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to address visible signs of ageing in the lower face, jawline, and often the neck. Over time, skin and deeper tissues can descend, leading to jowling, softening of the jawline, and facial laxity. A facelift works by repositioning deeper tissues and refining excess skin to restore definition and achieve a more refreshed appearance.

Your surgeon will tailor the approach to your anatomy and goals, which may include focusing on the lower face, neck, or a combined plan. Incisions are planned to be as discreet as possible. Recovery involves swelling and bruising that typically improve over time, and you will receive clear aftercare instructions on wound care, scar care, and when it is safe to return to normal activities and exercise.

As with any surgery, there are risks and limitations. Your doctor will explain material risks, realistic outcomes, and alternative options during consultation so you can make an informed decision.

Facelift FAQs
Am I suitable for a facelift?

Suitability depends on facial anatomy, skin quality, health status, and your goals. A doctor-led consultation is required to assess expectations, technique options, and clinical suitability.

Will a facelift look natural?

When planned properly, yes. We prioritise restoring definition while preserving facial harmony. The aim is a refreshed, rested appearance rather than an over-tightened look.

How long is recovery?

Recovery varies. Swelling and bruising are expected initially and typically settle gradually. Your doctor will advise on time off work, driving, exercise, and scar care based on your plan.

Will there be scars?

Incisions are planned to be as discreet as possible. Scar appearance varies by individual and technique. Your surgeon will explain incision placement and scar-care guidance.

What are the risks?

All surgery carries risks. These can include bruising, swelling, infection, scarring, asymmetry, and healing issues. Your surgeon will discuss material risks and steps to reduce them.

How long do results last?

Results are generally long-lasting, but ageing continues. Longevity varies based on individual factors, lifestyle, and anatomy.

Can a facelift be combined with other treatments?

Sometimes, depending on goals and suitability. Your surgeon may discuss safe combination planning (e.g., eyelid surgery, skin treatments, or other facial procedures) where appropriate.
