Your Blepharoplasty journey

Blepharoplasty Consultation
Step 1
Consultation

Your appointment starts with a doctor-led surgical consultation. We assess eyelid anatomy, skin quality, eye-area concerns, and medical suitability. We explain realistic outcomes, limitations, alternatives, and material risks so you can make an informed decision in line with UK consent standards.

Blepharoplasty Planning
Step 2
Planning

Your surgeon will outline whether upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combined approach is most appropriate. We discuss incision placement, scar expectations, downtime, and aftercare planning so you know what to expect at each stage.

Blepharoplasty Procedure
Step 3
Procedure

Blepharoplasty is performed by an experienced doctor in a clinical environment. The aim is to remove or reposition excess skin and/or fat to refresh the eye area while keeping results natural. You will receive clear instructions on wound care, swelling management, and activity restrictions.

Blepharoplasty Recovery & review
Step 4
Recovery & review

Swelling and bruising are expected early on and typically improve over time. We advise on scar care, sun protection, and safe return to exercise. A review can be arranged where clinically appropriate to check healing and progress.

How does blepharoplasty work?
How does blepharoplasty work?
Refreshed, natural eye area

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery designed to improve the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids. Depending on your anatomy and goals, it can reduce excess upper eyelid skin that may look heavy, and/or address lower eyelid concerns such as puffiness or skin laxity. Your surgeon will assess your eyelid structure and discuss the most appropriate approach, including incision placement and expected scarring.

The procedure is personalised: the aim is a refreshed, rested appearance while maintaining facial harmony. Recovery varies; swelling and bruising are expected early on and improve over time. Your doctor will provide clear aftercare instructions, including how to care for incisions, when you can return to exercise, and how to protect healing skin from sun exposure.

All surgery carries risks and limitations. Your surgeon will discuss material risks, expected benefits, and alternatives during consultation so you can make an informed choice.

Blepharoplasty FAQs
Am I suitable for blepharoplasty?

Suitability depends on eyelid anatomy, skin quality, eye health, and your medical history. A doctor-led consultation is required to assess goals, expectations, and clinical suitability.

Is it upper eyelid or lower eyelid surgery?

It can be upper, lower, or both. Your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate approach based on where excess skin, laxity, or puffiness is present.

How long is recovery?

Recovery varies. Swelling and bruising are expected initially and typically improve over time. Your doctor will advise on time off work, driving, exercise, and aftercare steps.

Will there be scars?

Incisions are placed to be as discreet as possible. Scar appearance varies by individual and technique. Your surgeon will explain scar expectations and scar care.

What are the risks?

All surgery carries risks. These can include bruising, swelling, infection, scarring, asymmetry, and healing issues. Your surgeon will discuss material risks and how to reduce them.

How long do results last?

Results are generally long-lasting, but ageing continues. Longevity varies based on individual factors, lifestyle, and anatomy.

Can blepharoplasty be combined with other treatments?

Sometimes, depending on goals and suitability. Your surgeon can discuss safe combination planning (e.g., skin treatments or other facial procedures) where appropriate.
